Operator Training

JETCC publishes a schedule of certification training and continuing education courses each fall and spring for operators who work in Maine’s wastewater treatment facilities. Training topics cover process control, laboratory analysis, infrastructure, maintenance and regulatory issues. Classes are scheduled in locations throughout Maine. Training certificates are awarded to participants after successful completion of each session. All of the classes listed in this section are approved for continuing education by the Maine Department of Environmental Protection wastewater treatment plant operator certification program.

The Maine Water Utilities Association (MWUA) is a non – profit membership organization which was organized in 1925. At that time a core group of water superintendents recognized the need to meet on a regular basis, share information and ideas and lend mutual support. That group met regularly and became increasingly involved in matters affecting water utilities. Today, the basic concept remains largely unchanged. MWUA is an advocate for the water supply profession.

The Maine Rural Water Association (MRWA) is a private, non-profit organization with a very simple goal – representing rural water and wastewater systems throughout Maine. The Association is run by and for rural systems. Our program includes training classes for system personnel and administrators on federal and state rules, operation and maintenance, and finance; an information network keeping you in touch with your neighbor’s system, regulatory agencies, and the legislature; and an effective voice in matters that concern you.

NEBRA is a non-profit professional association advancing the environmentally sound and publicly supported recycling of biosolids and other organic residuals in New England, New York, and eastern Canada. Their membership includes the environmental professionals and organizations that produce, treat, test, consult on, and manage most of the region’s biosolids and other large volume recyclable organic residuals. NEBRA is funded by membership fees, donations, and project grants.

The mission of Northeast Water and Wastewater Training Associates (NEWWTA) is to provide quality, affordable and professional training and technical assistance to water, wastewater and public works entities. We pride ourselves in ensuring that the best practices are implemented in the drinking water and wastewater treatment fields. Our qualified instructors are available to assist your personnel with courses designed to enhance professionalism, technical skills, human relations and communication skills.
